12” EP – Limited Edition Sky Blue & Black Galaxy Vinyl .
Born in 2012 out of a Los Angeles bedroom, Youth Code is the creation of Sara Taylor and Ryan George. Youth Code perfectly captures the frustrationand claustrophobia of the early 80s LA hardcore scene but re-appropriates that aggression, melding it to the strict, pounding electronics of classicindustrial. Melodic synth work, varied tempos, aggressive vocals, and EBM beats that feel like punches to the gut have earned the band a dedicatedfollowing in the current world of industrial music.
The band made their spontaneous live debut at a showcase put on by an employee of LA-based record store Vacation Vinyl. Word of the incendiarylive performance quickly spread and was followed by release of the well-circulated and coveted Demonstrational Cassette, which saw the band honetheir semi-improvised initial set into something altogether more muscular and lean.
Soon after, Youth Code was invited to release a limited edition 7 inch single with the legendary Genesis P-Orridge‘s label, Angry Love Productions. Thesingle quickly sold out and saw the band receive praise from industrial heavyweights including Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly. Shortly afterthe singles release, the band signed on with Dais Records to release their 2013 self-titled full length, which was met with widespread critical praisefrom outlets as far ranging as Pitchfork, Fact Magazine, and MetalSucks.
In 2014, Dais put out a new Youth Code EP titled A Place To Stand, consisting of four new tracks as well as four remixes of earlier songs from artists asdiverse as Silent Servant, Clipping, God Module, and Sanford Parker. After spending most of 2015 touring selectively in Europe and then sweepingthrough North America with the legendary Skinny Puppy, Youth Code pulled together their newest songs, hunkering down with producer Rhys Fulber(Front Line Assembly/ Fear Factory), and intertwined the ideas that would become their second full length album, Commitment to Complications, released in April of 2016.
